webMathematica: Interactive Mathematics on the Web

Odd Bringslid (Buskerud University College, Kongsberg, Norway)

webMathematica is a new product that adds interactive calculations and
visualization to a web site by integrating Mathematica with the latest
web server technology. The standard interface provided requires little
training to use effectively. In most cases, users neither have to be
familiar with Mathematica nor need to know they are using Mathematica.

Xmath will develop an educational calculator based on webMathematica.
This calculator offers, among other subjects, step-by-step methods where
the code is stored in a Mathematica package to be loaded from the html-file,
called a msp-file. Msp means Mathematica Server Pages, and the webMathematica
code is in-line by using so-called Mathlets in the html file (msp file). The
output of mathematical expressions is either images or MathML.
